Humans solved a lot, but we still need to solve these problems

Humans solved a lot, but we still need to solve these problems

I'm super grateful of the technology we have today.

Compare it to 50 years ago and you'll see how big the difference is.

That said, there are still so many important problems left to solve that I often get annoyed by.

I'm not claiming I can solve them, but they are the kinds of problems that excite me. And I believe AI will play a role in helping to solve these.

If you're working on anything of these, I'd love to chat with you.

1. Supersonic commercial flights

We used to have the Concorde, an airplane that reached supersonic speeds and was able to decrease flight times by hours.

Every time I book a long-haul flight, I'm annoyed by how much time is wasted in the air. San Francisco to Shanghai should take 3 hours, not 16.

I imagine a future where humanity is more interconnected in real life, not just online. Faster intercontinental travel would make the world feel smaller, increase global productivity, and enable far more collaboration across countries.

2. Solve language barriers

English is widely spoken, which is great. But a huge part of the world's population still doesn't speak it. We need to solve communication or make language learning 10x more effective. Learning a language in school or with Duolingo sucks ass.

3. More energy-efficient air conditioning

As more of the countries temperatures keep rising, demand for air conditioning is going to explode. We can already see this in Europe during summer. People want to buy AC's to survive, but is not doing it due to the social norm of hating AC due to it draining energy.

Current AC systems consume an enormous amount of electricity. Making them even 20-30% more efficient would save insane amounts of energy globally while making cooling more affordable for billions of people.

4. Robotics

Software has automated a huge amount of office work.

The physical world still has an incredible amount of repetitive labor waiting to be automated.

Reliable, affordable robots would completely reshape manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, agriculture, and millions of people's daily lives.

5. Rockets & Space tech

I'm bullish on humanity becoming a multi-planetary species.

6. Cure diseases faster

I'm no expert on this, but I briefly looked into how the immune system works. Every time you get infected with a new virus, your body spends a lot of energy bruteforcing which antibodies are effective against it. If we could make that process faster or more efficient, people could recover much quicker.

8. Longevity

Humans should not be limited by dying, I think if someone wants to live forever they should be able to do it.

100 years to live is maybe enough time to explore this planet, but then think that there's an unlimited universe with unlimited planets to explore outside earth.
